AECBytes Architecture Engineering Construction Newsletters

Six Month Anniversary Update and Survey

AECbytes recently completed six months since its formal launch on Nov 20, 2003. Since then, the content base has grown to 23 articles published to date, and the subscriber base has grown to over 1150, representing over 80 countries from around the world. In addition, the website currently welcomes more than 6500 unique visitors a month.

None of this would have been possible without your interest and continued support, for which I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation. Many thanks!

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the vendors who have supported this fledgling publication through advertising, despite the fact that traffic statistics do not yet match up to more established websites. While signing up advertisers continues to remain an ongoing challenge, it has been great to receive at least some support for this solo endeavor.

This publication is dedicated to bringing you thorough, objective, and critical analysis of AEC technology. I hope you are finding the content useful. Please take a couple of minutes to respond to a very brief survey about your experience so far with AECbytes. Your feedback is critical to improving this publication, and your response will be greatly appreciated. The survey is anonymous, so please be frank! (Note: The survey closed on June 30.)

Please do also continue to write in with your feedback, comments, and suggestions. It is always great to hear from you, and while I may not always be able to respond right away, please be assured that I will eventually get back to you. One of the best aspects of this work is getting connected with people from all over the world.

AECbytes started off this month by publishing a feature article that describes the technological processes underlying the design of the Eureka Tower, the tallest residential building in the world and one of the largest projects to be designed using building information modeling (BIM). Also lined up is a product review of the recently released Autodesk DWF Composer, a report on the AIA National Convention in Chicago, and a Viewpoint contribution from Larry Rocha, Vice President and CIO, WATG Architects, Planners and Consultants. Enjoy!

Thank you
